Impact evaluation incubator on food security June 2023

he Development Learning Lab’s second impact evaluation incubator is coming up, this time around on food security.

The Development Learning Lab, in collaboration with Norad and the International Initiative on Impact Evaluation (3ie) is organizing an incubator for organizations that have progressed to the second stage of Norad’s call on food security. The event, at which State Secretary Bjørg Sandkjær from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will give the welcoming remarks, will take place on 26-28 June, 2023, at Norad’s office in Oslo.

Interaction and exchange of knowledge between development practitioners and researchers is at the very heart of the DLL impact evaluation incubators. Our main ambition for these incubators is that organisations learn how to design and conduct high-quality evaluations that can help them succeed in reaching the goals of their projects.

During these three days, researchers from DLL and practitioners from different organisations will work closely together to prepare for an impact evaluation of the project the organisations have proposed for Norad’s call. Presentations at the incubator will cover what can be learnt from impact evaluations, how to formulate good evaluation questions, how to design impact evaluations using randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental methods, and how to address practical and ethical challenges. Participants will also get an overview of the evidence on the effectiveness of food security interventions.

DLL facilitates learning across organisations that work with the same development challenges. The incubators are among our Learning Arenas, which provide digital and physical venues for learning, and where policy makers, practitioners and researchers interact in a trusting atmosphere.
